Band Sizing & Compatibility
What size band does my watch use?
Watch bands are sold by lug width, the gap in millimetres between the points where the band attaches to the case. Measure that gap with a ruler, not the old band itself, since bands are usually cut slightly narrower than the space they sit in.
Our watch band size guides list the band size for every model we cover, brand by brand: Garmin, Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, COROS, Fitbit, Amazfit, Polar, Huawei, TicWatch, Suunto, OnePlus and Moto.
Which brands do not use standard band sizes?
Apple Watch, Fitbit, Google Pixel Watch, Garmin QuickFit models, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic and Watch 9, and the Galaxy Watch Ultra all use their own connectors rather than a lug width. For those you shop by model name instead of by millimetres. Each brand's guide explains which bands fit: Apple Watch, Fitbit, Google Pixel, Garmin and Samsung Galaxy.
Will my old Galaxy Watch bands fit a Galaxy Watch 8?
No. The Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic use Samsung's Dynamic Lug System, so bands from the Galaxy Watch 7 and earlier will not fit, and neither will standard 20mm straps. Order bands listed specifically for the Watch 8. Our Samsung Galaxy Watch band size guide shows which bands fit every Galaxy Watch.
How do I change a watch band?
On watches with standard spring bars, turn the watch over, slide the small lever on the spring bar toward the centre of the band, and lift that end away. Seat the new band one side at a time, then tug each half gently to confirm it has clicked into place.
Watches with proprietary connectors work differently: Apple Watch bands slide sideways out of a channel, Pixel Watch bands come off when you press the release button on the back of the watch and slide them out, and Fitbit bands press and release. Our watch band size guides cover which system each brand uses.
