How to choose a Polar watch band

Polar bands are matched by watch family and lug width. Several Polar models take ordinary quick-release bands, while some use Polar's own fitting.

Which Polar models does this fit?

Our Polar bands cover the Vantage, Grit X, Ignite and Pacer ranges. Slimmer models generally take 20mm and the larger outdoor models take 22mm. If you are replacing a band, measure the gap between the lugs where the current one sits.

Silicone or nylon for training

Silicone is the practical choice for running, swimming and heart-rate tracking, since it rinses clean and does not hold sweat. Nylon is lighter and dries quickly on long days outdoors. Leather and metal are better suited to everyday wear than to hard training.

Polar band questions

How do I change a Polar band?

On models with standard spring bars, slide the small lever on the bar toward the centre of the band and lift that end away from the watch, then reverse the process with the new band. On models with Polar's own fitting, the band releases from the back of the case instead. The product page explains which applies.

Does a tighter band improve heart-rate accuracy?

It helps. Wrist heart-rate sensors read best when the watch sits snug against the skin, a finger's width above the wrist bone, without cutting in. A silicone band with closely spaced holes makes that easier to dial in than a stiff leather strap.

Are these bands sweat and water resistant?

Our silicone and nylon Polar bands are built for training and handle sweat, rain and swimming. Rinse them with fresh water after pool or ocean use.
