How to choose a Samsung Galaxy Watch band
Galaxy Watch bands now fall into three groups that do not mix. Check which one your watch belongs to before you order.
Galaxy Watch 8, 8 Classic and Watch 9
These use Samsung's Dynamic Lug System, a proprietary slide-in connector introduced with the Watch 8. Standard 20mm quick-release bands do not fit, and neither do bands from the Galaxy Watch 7 or any earlier generation. Bands come in two sizes: small for the 40mm Watch 8, and large for the 44mm Watch 8 and the 46mm Watch 8 Classic.
Galaxy Watch Ultra
The Ultra also uses a Dynamic Lug connector, but Samsung has confirmed its bands are wider than the Watch 8's, so the two are not interchangeable. Ultra bands fit other Ultra models.
Watch 7 and earlier: 20mm or 22mm
The Galaxy Watch 4, 5, 6 and 7, including Classic and Pro versions and the Watch FE, all take 20mm standard quick-release bands, whatever the case size. Older and larger models such as the Galaxy Watch 3 45mm, the original Galaxy Watch 46mm and the Gear S3 take 22mm. Measure the gap between the lugs rather than the band itself if you are unsure.
Silicone, nylon, leather or metal
Silicone is the workhorse for training and sleep tracking because it wipes clean and shrugs off sweat. Nylon is breathable and light. Leather looks sharper for work but should stay dry. Stainless steel, Milanese mesh and link bracelets give the most formal finish.
Galaxy Watch band questions
Will my old bands fit a Galaxy Watch 8?
No. The Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic use the Dynamic Lug System, so bands from the Galaxy Watch 7, 6, 5 and 4 will not fit, and neither will generic 20mm straps. Adapters exist but add bulk at the lug and can affect how the case sits against your wrist.
How do I change a Galaxy Watch band?
On spring-bar models, turn the watch over, slide the small lever on the spring bar toward the centre of the band, and lift that end away. Seat the new band one side at a time. On Dynamic Lug models the release is on the underside of the case instead, and the band pulls straight out rather than unpinning.
Are these bands sweat and water resistant?
Our silicone and nylon Galaxy Watch bands are made for daily wear and training, and handle sweat, rain and swimming. Rinse them after pool or ocean use. Leather bands should be kept out of water.
