Choosing an Amazfit Band: GTR, GTS, T-Rex and Bip

Amazfit sells watches at prices where the stock silicone band is the first place the cost shows. Changing it is the cheapest upgrade available, and because most Amazfit watches use standard spring bars, you are not limited to what Amazfit sells.

Start with the width

GTS and Bip models generally take 20mm. GTR and T-Rex models generally take 22mm. Measure the gap between the lugs if you are unsure.

Standard spring bars mean any band of that width fits, including ones made for Samsung, Garmin or generic watches. That widens your choices enormously compared to brands with proprietary fittings.

Match the band to the case shape

This matters more on Amazfit than on most brands, because the ranges look so different from each other.

GTR is round with a traditional watch profile. It carries leather and metal better than any other Amazfit, and a link bracelet or a wide leather strap looks deliberate rather than like a mismatch.

GTS is square and slim, closer to an Apple Watch. Slim bands suit it; chunky outdoor straps fight the case shape.

T-Rex is the rugged outdoor model, with a chunky case and exposed screws. Nylon, rugged silicone and anything with visible hardware suit its character. A fine mesh bracelet looks odd on it.

Bip is the lightest and most minimal. Keep bands light to match; heavy metal defeats the point of the watch.

Materials

Silicone for training, swimming and sleep tracking. Rinses clean, handles sweat, comfortable overnight.

Woven nylon for long wear and hot weather. Lighter and more breathable, and it suits the T-Rex particularly well.

Leather for work and evenings, best on the GTR. Keep it dry, since leather stiffens and cracks with repeated wetting.

Stainless steel and magnetic mesh for the dressiest look. Mesh adjusts to any position, which is the practical advantage over a link bracelet.

Why two bands makes sense here

Amazfit watches are known for long battery life, which means people wear them continuously rather than charging nightly. A watch worn through workouts, sleep and the office asks more of a single band than most.

Silicone for training and sleep, something smarter for the rest, takes about ten seconds to swap on a quick-release band.

Fit and sensor accuracy

Amazfit watches read heart rate optically, and that needs steady skin contact. The watch should sit snug about a finger's width above the wrist bone.

Too loose and the sensor reads motion rather than pulse; too tight restricts blood flow and skews it the other way. On the heavier GTR and T-Rex this matters more, because the extra mass lets a loose watch shift during movement.

Care

Rinse silicone and nylon with fresh water after pool or ocean use. Chlorine and salt shorten the life of both, and the residue trapped between band and wrist causes most of the irritation people blame on the band itself.
